Water treatment industry leader Bill Fritzsche dies

PACIFIC PALISADES, CA — William B. “Bill” Fritzsche, a respected and congenial leader of the water treatment industry for almost half a century, whose Rayne Water Conditioning dealership in California served the homes of Hollywood celebrities, died April 6 at his home. He was 78.

Mr. Fritzsche was president of the Water Quality Association (WQA) in 1985 and of the Pacific Water Quality Association (PWQA) in 1965-66. His down-to-earth manner belied the fact that his Long Beach, CA-based dealership included among its customers the affluent residents of star-studded Los Angeles communities like Malibu, Brentwood, Bel Air and Beverly Hills.

“Very often you never met the celebrity,” Mr. Fritzsche told a Water Technology® interviewer in 2002, commenting on his customer relationships. “It’s a different way of doing business. Very often you were dealing through their business manager, a personal secretary, a plumber — or a decorator, of all things.” Read More…
